The culinary offerings here entice with bold flavors and generous portions that satisfy both family diners and late-night revelers. Start your day on a high note with their standout breakfasts: the Chicken and Waffles features tender fried chicken perched atop buttermilk waffles, crowned with sweet orange butter and drizzle of real maple syrup, creating a divine sweet-and-savory harmony. The Brisket Hash is a smoky, comforting dish combining succulent smoked brisket, crispy home fries, and the subtle kick of pickled chilis – a true savory treat for any morning. For something rich yet refined, the Benedict layers fresh cornbread with sliced smoked brisket and brown butter hollandaise, served with perfectly cooked eggs and home fries.
As the day progresses, the smoker croons with signature barbecue plates that would make Texas proud. Dive into the BBQ Plate or the indulgent Full Boat, showcasing brisket, pulled pork, hot links, pork belly burnt ends, and tender spare ribs, accompanied by classic sides like jalapeño cornbread and tallow fries –house-made fries fried in rich, flavorful tallow that elevate every bite. For a simpler yet just as satisfying option, the 1 Meat 1 Side or 2 Meat 1 Side combos let you customize your smoky feast.
The bar menu is equally compelling, offering a meticulously curated lineup of cocktails including the smooth, citrusy Whiskey Sour, the intriguingly sweet Whisky Sprite, and the robust bitterness of a classic Negroni. Their Long Island Iced Tea and creamy White Russian round out the drink list for those seeking popular, crowd-pleasing options. The drinks perfectly complement the restaurant’s warm, unpretentious vibe where a mixture of country bar flair meets family-friendly comfort until 8 PM each night.
What truly elevates The Cross-Eyed Cricket beyond a typical dining spot is its dynamic atmosphere. The expansive dance floor buzzes with youthful energy where country swing and line dancing are daily staples, creating an infectious sense of community and fun. Regular live music events, dance lessons, poker, and pool tables offer an all-around entertaining experience whether you come with family or friends. The eclectic mix of locals, welcoming staff, and the authentic non-hipster vibe make it feel like a home away from home for many.

Saw a story in the local news about them and figured, hell let’s give em a shot. Server was very friendly and gave suggestions for what to try. Everything was flavorful, and portion sizes were just right.
Update 5/2022. Still awesome A great place for food, drinks, and fun. Went for lunch and was surprised by the 3 menu styles offered. Well lit and family friendly till 8. A mix of country bar flair, with non hipster local vibe too. Food was fresh prepared and entire space was clean throughout. Service was friendly and fast. Full bar, poker, pool tables. Overall great local spot that I'll be returning too.
If you are looking for a country bar in the Bend area, this is the place. There's plenty of dancing on a good sized floor for country swing and line dancing. It's a younger energy and there are plenty of regulars you'll recognize if you come back again. Service can be spotty. When it's less busy you can get table service, which is nice. Later in the evening, as it gets busy, they force you to wait in longer lines at the bar for anything you want to order (food and drink). I also feel like there is favoritism by the bar staff for servicing folks they recognize before others. But that probably happens everywhere to some extent. Just know that's the environment you're walking into and you'll have a great time...if you can find a place to park.
Finally! I find a place in Bend that makes BBQ brisket worthy of the best in Texas. And have a side of Tallow Fries.
The is one of my favorite places to go and dance in Bend. They always have great stuff going on too! Dance lessons, live music and fun. I do wish the dance floor was bigger though! The food is good whenever I get it ans the staff is always pleasant!
